Haryana CM Asks ‘Kya Naam Hai’ While Praising PV Sindhu’s Olympic Heroics

Vijay Goel is not alone! Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has now embarrassed himself (and the entire politician community) by asking one of his aides ‘kya naam hai?’ while addressing the public about Rio silver medallist PV Sindhu’s achievements.

He also said that she was from Karnataka, and not Hyderabad.

The gaffe happened at a grand felicitation ceremony for bronze medallist Sakshi Malik, who is from Haryana, and Khattar was there to hand over a cash reward of Rs 2.5 crore to the wrestler.

Sakshi, who is India’s first woman wrestler to win an Olympic medal, returned home from Rio and had a massive welcome party awaiting her.

Khattar’s mistake follows sports minister Vijay Goel’s embarrassing outings in Rio – first he took selfies with a tired boxer Vikas Krishan after his bout, then he misspelled Dipa Karmakar’s name and later tweeted out a picture of Dutee Chand while talking about Srabani Nanda.

Sindhu was also welcomed in style, going through the city in an open-top bus parade and later taking a lap of honour at the Gachibowli stadium.

However, such mistakes, along with the Telangana Deputy CM’s comment that he would arrange for a better coach for Sindhu so she could win gold next time, has soured the occasion.
