Gory! Animal Slaughter During Bakrid Turns Dhaka Streets Into Rivers Of Blood

Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka witnessed horrific visuals on the occasion of bakrid on Tuesday. The city was experiencing waterlogging due to downpour when blood from the animal slaughter got mixed into it giving the impression similar to rivers of blood.

Apparently the two city corporations together had allocated around 1000 spots for the ritual of animal slaughtering

The two city corporations had designated 1,000 spots – 496 in the north and 504 in the south – for slaughtering animals. However, even as early as 7.30 am in the morning, several residents were seen performing the sacrifice in the streets leaving heavy accumulation of blood and other waste, reports Dhaka Tribune.

As per the Dhaka Tribune report, people have not only held the corporations responsible to failing to clean the mess, but also pointed out towards the “lack of campaigning” and “places being far away from homes” as the main reasons why the streets looked so gory.

Khandker Millatul Islam, deputy chief waste management official from Dhaka South City Corporation on Tuesday said that the city has been suffering from waterlogging since a long time while adding that they are working towards solving the problem, reports India Today
