When thousands of exhausted migrants from the east arrived at Munich in Germany, they were welcomed with cheer, applauds and gifts.
The Hungarian government had tried to stop them, but was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. The last train carrying an estimated 1,000 refugees arrived in Munich from Austria at 1:30 am on Sunday, 6 September, making a total number of about 8,000 refugees.
