Earlier a head constable with Punjab Police for over 9 years, Kargil war hero Satpal Singh has now been given a double promotion by Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, reports the Economic Times.
Ignored for his credentials back in 2010, Satpal Singh will now be recruited as an Assistant Sub-Inspector as authorized by the CM.
For that to happen, there will be a relaxation of Rule 12.3 of the Punjab Police Manual.
Satpal had killed Pakistan’s Captain Karnal Sher Khan and has been recognized as an instrumental member of the battalion that captured the Tiger Hill in 1999.
The Vir Chakra awardee is finally getting what he deserved a decade ago. But as we say, better late than never.
