At a time when there’s been a rapid surge in cyber crimes and online terrorists modules across the country, Delhi Police is all set to acquire high-tech cyber security tools and latest technology to retrieve and analyse the deleted data including pornographic videos, photos and other sensitive material, to nab the criminals.

According to a report in Times of India, Delhi Police is in the process of purchasing ‘porn detection sticks’ which help in retrieving the pornographic data from a device even after deletion.

The technology, already in use in the West, will augment the security agencies to pin down sex criminals, paedophiles and blackmailers besides fighting cyber crime and tracing honeytraps.

In December last year, a group of hackers allegedly linked to extremist group Islamic State diverted a Delhi-based enterprise’s money of Rs 5-6 crore from a London client to the bank accounts of the extremist group in Turkey. At that time Delhi police had termed it the “biggest fraud” of 2015 which had possibly been carried out after hacking the email account of an employee.
