This Priest Apparently Said ‘Fat Women Don’t Go To Heaven’ So A Woman Pushed Him Off The Stage

If you’ve been to a church, you know all about the sermon a priest gives to the entire congregation – the gathering of people in the church, offering prayers. It’s supposed to be one of the most important parts of the mass because of the takeaway message. And it almost always, has a biblical context, to begin with.

Why this is important?

Because, two days ago, in the pious land of Brazil, a fairly well known priest in the Catholic community of Canção Nova, named Marcello Rossi, served mass at Cachoeira Paulista, in Sao Paulo, where he gave a sermon.

And in the sermon, he reportedly ended up saying “fat women don’t go to heaven.”

Cringe aside, here’s what happened soon after.

A woman stood up from the audience, climb-jumped up on to the stage and then ran up to the priest and pushed him off the platform!

Obviously, someone recorded the whole shabang and posted it online.

See? SEE?

The entire bench of priests either stood up in shock, or just looked on in disbelief of what had just happened.

After the incident, the priest, Rossi, assured that he was fine. “Don’t worry, I’m fine, just some mild pain. That’s normal, nothing’s broken. Amen.”

The internet did serve up some comments, though.

Following the incident, the church released a statement, saying:

The father has suffered an attack during mass. We pray for him. Fortunately, the religious man has not suffered considerable injuries and was able to continue with the mass… The priest is well. He was attended by the medical staff at the event and presided over the celebration to the end.

The woman was arrested after, however, the priest reportedly did not press charges and she was eventually let go. However, according to sources, he thereafter, refrained from saying anything controversial while continuing his sermon.

Some reports also state that a friend of the woman’s revealed she may have had a mental condition. Further reports even suggest that the priest may or may not have said those exact words, but there’s no confirmation on what the words really were then.

Whatever the tea might be on this one, we would have loved to be a fly on that wall.
