Andhra Farmer Puts A Poster Of Sunny Leone To Keep ‘Buri Nazar’ Away From His Crops

Buri nazar waale tera muh kaala.

We’ve read this line so many times, written behind autos and trucks with an aim to ward off the evil eye that could be obstructing positive energies.

My Faking News

In a country that lives on superstition, things like these are quite common. We put nazar battus outside homes and kaala teekas on our kids, to block negative energy.

A farmer in Andhra Pradesh took this a bit too far.

He put a picture of Sunny Leone next to his flourishing farm so that people don’t look at the crops.

Hindustan Times

In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said:

“This year, I have a good crop on 10 acres. This has been attracting unnecessary attention of villagers and passersby. To ward off their evil eye, I thought of this idea of putting up the big flax poster of Sunny Leone a couple of days ago.”

The poster also carries text, Orey, nannu chusi edavakura, which translates to ‘hey, don’t cry or feel jealous of me’.

When asked about his fear of getting punished by agriculture officials or police, he said, “The officials never bother to come to our fields to find out our problems. Why should they have any objection?”

And did the trick work? He claims it has.

“The trick has worked. Nobody is looking at my crop now.”

I can’t decide what is more weird, the fact that he put the picture to ward off evil eye or that it worked for him.
