Over 8,000 Amritsar Students Enter Guinness Book For Breaking This Unusual Record

India holds some of the most bizarre world records – from the largest roti to the longest beard. And now there’s another unusual one created by over 8,000 students from Amritsar.

As many 8,726 students from 40 schools in Amritsar danced to a Bollywood song at a school on October 3, 2015. The dance accompanied a message against drug abuse as the students took a pledge against drugs.

Recently, the district administration received a word from the team of Guinness World Records that the performance has been registered as ‘the largest Bollywood dance performance‘ ever.

The students danced to the song “India Wale” at Amritsar’s Khalsa College.

Past records:

The last record was set by Zee TV show Dance India Dance (DID), when 4,428 people danced to Bollywood song “Dhinkachika Dhinkachika” at Mumbai’s KJ Somaiya college grounds on

The record before that was set by choreographer Terence Lewis, who got 1,336 people dance to “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” in under an hour at Mumbai’s St Teresa High School in Bandra in 2011.

And before that the record was set in Australia when 1,235 Melbournians and tourists danced to “Munni Badnam Hui” led by Malaika Arora herself along the banks of Yarra River. It was during an Indian Film Festival.
