After Being Bashed By Bhakts, Snapdeal Found An Unlikely Ally In Flipkart’s Sachin Bansal

On Tuesday, e-commerce site Snapdeal had become an unlikely victim of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s comments on intolerance.

Many on social media responded by deleting the Snapdeal app or by giving it a 1-star rating, which would push it down in the App Store rankings.

But on Wednesday, Snapdeal found an unlikely ally in Flipkart’s Sachin Bansal.

The #AppWapsi move hasn’t affected Snapdeal’s rankings on the Play Store yet, according to App Annie. They have remained at a constant 27 in the the list of top apps.

Aamir, who is the brand ambassador for Snapdeal, had said, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me.”
