Here’s Why AAP Workers Are Looking For A House In Punjab For Arvind Kejriwal

After Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab unit has been hit by a series of controversies, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that he himself will take charge of 2017 Assembly election.

He uploaded a three-minute video clip on Saturday and said he would be in the poll-bound state from September 8 to 11 after which he would be off for 10 days for a surgery. “After that, I will be in Punjab and will take charge of the state unit in my hands,” he said.

To accomplish that, he has decided to spend more time in Punjab and that’s why AAP leaders and volunteers are busy looking for an accommodation for him. He is expected to stay at least half the month in  poll-bound Punjab from this month onwards, hence the house-hunting.

Jarnail Singh, co-incharge of Punjab affairs of AAP, told The Indian Express that Kejriwal was keen on a house in either Ludhiana or Phagwara rather than Chandigarh, as these two places are more centrally located and would be convenient for road travel.

He also added that unlike other politicians, Kejriwal prefers to travel by road, that is why a central location is being looked for him to stay in Punjab.

“Staying in a guesthouse or circuit house for a long period is neither convenient nor proper during the poll process. To be able to tour the entire state and reach out to our supporters in the villages, he needs to stay here for longer periods” a party source told The Telegraph.
