There have been innumerable instances of people going beyond their call of duty and simply helping people in need. People like them make everything worthwhile and the world a better place.

In another such instance, a Colombian police officer Luisa Fernanda Urrea saved an abandoned infant from dying.

As reported by Vagabomb, Urrea found a newborn girl in the rural area of Tulua. The baby girl still had her umbilical cord attached to her body, was starving and was on the brink of contracting hypothermia.

Urrea picked up the abandoned baby girl, kept her warm and swaddled her to sleep. As luck should have it, Urrea was a new mother herself, so, she breastfed the starving baby.

In an interview to a local platform she mentioned “I’m a new mother and I have milk, and I recognized the needs that this poor little creature had… I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances.”

The baby girl is now under the care of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute and is being nursed back to health. They will take care of the baby till she finds a new adoptive home.

Meanwhile, the police is looking for the mother who abandoned her. She is likely to face criminal charges.

Well, we only hope that Luisa keeps on doing what she is doing!
