So you thought the age of pirates and hidden treasures was over? If you are the sort who loves a good adventure and don’t mind scraping the length and breadth of the earth then here are a few hidden treasures that you can still find across the world that will make you a millionaire in an instant, that is, if you can find them. We are talking about treasures like:

1. The Forrest Fenn Hidden Treasure

After becoming a pilot in the Air Force in the 1960s, Fenn regularly flew his plane to Pompeii to look for artifacts, of which he found plenty. Diagnosed with kidney cancer in the 1980s, Fenn decided to hide his most beloved artifacts and give everyone clues to find his treasure, which he estimates to hold $1–3 million worth of gold, jewelry, and other valuable artifacts.

2. The Treasure Of Jean LaFitte

Jean LaFitte and his brother Pierre were French pirates who made their living attacking merchant ships in the Gulf of Mexico. After LaFitte died sometime between 1823 and 1830, the legend of his treasures began circulating around Louisiana. Claims have been made that there are large caches of treasure buried somewhere in Lake Borgne, right off the coast of New Orleans, and another about five kilometers east of the Old Spanish Trail near the Sabine River in a gum tree grove.

3. The Oak Island Money Pit

The mystery that surrounds this pit, located off the shores of Nova Scotia, can either make you super rich or it will take you on a wild goose chase, where you dig a monstrous piece of land, only to find nothing. Its legend dates back to the time when piracy was at an all time high. Back in 1975, a teenager named Daniel McGinnis claimed he saw a mysterious light coming from the island, and upon investigating, found a small circular hole. Even though he and his friends found nothing in the alleged man-made hole, its legend grew multi-fold. So much so that everyone from President Roosevelt to big corporations have tried their hand at finding the treasure, which could either be a pirate’s treasure, or the Holy Grail itself.

4. The Golden Owl Hidden Somewhere in France

Someone going by the pseudonym “Max Valentin” decided that in the year 1993, he would convert everyone in France into a professional treasure hunter. That’s the only possible explanation for hiding a golden owl somewhere in the French Countryside. That’s not all, he also went on to say that anyone who finds it would get 1 million Francs. Thus he went on to give 11 clues of the owl’s whereabouts, but it still hasn’t been found. However, in an interview in 1999 he did mention that one person came very close to finding it; so all hope is not lost.

5. The $63 Million Hidden In Bedford County

Thomas Beale wanted his and his fellow colleagues’ kids to work hard for the wealth they had accidentally discovered while mining somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. Thus, he decided to create three ciphers, one with the name of Thomas and his colleague’s kins, one that contained the exact description of the treasure and one with the exact location. The men entrusted an Innkeeper called Robert Morriss. Morriss was supposed to wait for 10 years before opening it. At this point, if Beale did not return for the box, a key to the cipher was supposed to be mailed to Morriss. But it never arrived. So basically, silver and gold worth $63 Million is hidden somewhere in Bedford and no one has been able to find it.

6. The Mosby’s Treasure in Virginia

During one of his many raids during the Civil war, Confederate Commander Colonel John Singleton Mosby found a burlap sack containing $350,000 worth of gold, silver, and family heirlooms. Even though he wanted to take this loot and retire as a rich man, he was unable to do so because he was also responsible for the 42 other men he captured during the raid. So, he told his trusted men to bury the treasure between two large pine trees. Unfortunately, his trusted men were captured and hung and he could never return to his treasure.

7. Leon Trabuco’s Gold

During the Great Depression, Leon and some of his business partners decided to hide 16 tonnes of gold in the New Mexico desert. They preempted that amidst the Great Depression the price of gold will explode. Thus, they decided to hold on to as much gold as they possibly could. Unfortunately for them, they held on to their treasure a little too long, because after the depression, private ownership of gold became illegal. Within a few months after the Gold Act was passed, Trabuco and his partners were found dead. However, the gold in the desert remains untouched.

8. The Lost Treasure of the Alamo

Alamo witnessed one of the most epic American battles in history. However, what is more epic is the fact the legend of the gigantic San Saba Treasure which is supposedly buried somewhere on the grounds of the Alamo.The treasure is said to contain millions in dollars of gold, silver and religious artifacts that were initially supposed to be used to build an army and pay for the upcoming war. Unfortunately not a single trace of the massive fortune has ever been found.

9. The Victorio Peak Treasure in New Mexico

During a cold morning in the year 1937, Doc Noss went searching for some fresh water near the Hembrillo Basin in New Mexico. On his search he discovered a tunnel sort of a thing, which had a ladder that was leading down below. He decided to inspect it. On reaching the bottom of the pit he found over 200 gold bars. However, greed got the better of him and so when he decided to explore the land to make the entry bigger and hoping to find more gold, the impact of the explosion made the shaft collapse on itself making it impossible to reach the treasure. Many have attempted to find the hidden treasure but to no avail.

10. The $200 Million of The Coast in Key West

In 1622, many cargo ships perished as they were caught amidst a raging hurricane. However, these were no ordinary cargo ships since they were carrying approximately $700 million worth of gold and silver. In 1985, treasure hunter Mel Fisher found $500 million of the buried treasure less than 160 kilometers off the coast of Key West. Experts believe there is still plenty of treasure to find.
