She grabbed the world’s attention by raising her voice to the Taliban, who had banned girl children from attending school in the Swat Valley. She was shot on the left side of her forehead, and after a long arduous battle with death, she lived to tell the story. She was operated on at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, England. After she recovered, she became an icon for women’s rights, protest against human rights violations.

She’s travelled the world, advocating about the above mentioned issues, for which she became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, along with Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.
