Oh, look!A tazo!Is thata crazy ball!?Oh my God. I want ’emall!
As kids, most of us hoarded anything and everything that caught our fancy. From rusted old coins to colourful little tattoos, we wanted to have them all. Here are 10 things that we loved to collect as kids:
1. Comics
From Champak, Archies, Chacha Chaudhary to Tinkle, Spiderman, Batman and Superman, all the characters were our true chuddy buddies and we spent as much time with them as we did with our colony friends.
2. Trump cards
Hulk Hogan or Bret Hart? Undertaker or Yokozuna? What’s your card? B oasting about somebody’s chest size was never so much fun!
3. Kanche
Remember Goli, Banta and Kancha? We were so attached to these peacock-coloured marbles. We probably still have a dabba full of these little gems tucked away in some part of our family house.
4. Crazy Balls
The craze for Crazy Balls was, well, crazy! The scented, colourful balls that bounced in random directions and made sure we were never bored.
5. Coins
Our generation has seen coins that today’s generation can perhaps only see on eBay. We collected and labelled them and asked our NRI relatives to get us different currencies.
6. Stamps
There was a time when we actually collected stamps instead of just reading about them. Remember all those stamp books we used to have?
7. Tazos
Tazos were such an obsession back then. The more we had, the better!
8. Posters and pictures of filmstars
We would scavenge through magazines and newspapers just to have an exclusive collection of pictures of our favourite actors and actresses. Our entire bedroom would be covered with their posters!
9. Tattoos
We’d buy these bubble gums just for the tattoos that came free. The glow in the dark tattoos were the best.
10.Video games
For most of us, our childhood included regular visits to game parlours and we ended up having our own collection of video games! Boasting about the number of games we had was as much fun as playing them.
It’s time to raid your closet and relive the memories!
