10 Talented Indian Actors Who Passed Away In Recent Times

On September 24, actor Mohan Bhandari left his family, friends and fans for his heavenly abode. One of the most recognizable faces of the small screen, Bhandari had also dabbled in movie roles, acting in films like Yalgaar and Aamir Khan starrer Mangal Pandey.

One of the busiest actors during the 80s, Bhandari had portrayed some of the most memorable roles on the small screen in TV shows like Saat Phere, Kitty Party and Parampara.

It’s very unfortunate that recently, a number of actors have died an untimely death and left their friends, family and fans heartbroken.

1. Sanjit Bedi

Heart-throb Sanjit Bedi had shot to fame with the popular medical drama Sanjivani that also starred actors Mohnish Behl, Gurdeep Kohli and Rupa Ganguly. Apart from that, the young actor had also been a part of hit TV shows such as Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka & Kasautii Zindagi Kay. However, he succumbed to a prolonged illness on June 23, 2015.

2. Rasika Joshi

One of the better known character actresses on the big screen, Rasika was a favourite of director Priyadarshan and had acted in several of his hit movies such as Bhool Bhulaiya, Malamal Weekly and Dhol. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with Leukemia, and breathed her last in 2011.

3. Deven Verma

A staple of comedy movies, Deven Varma achieved unparalleled success as a comic actor. Starring in some of the most memorable Bollywood movies like Gomaal, Angoor , Andaz Apna Apna and Dil Toh Pagal Hai , Varma passed away in December 2014 after a heart attack and kidney failure.

4. Nanda

One of the most versatile actresses of her time, Nanda became equally famous for her acting skills and her hairstyle. With films like Hum Dono and Jab Jab Phool Khile, Nanda bid us adieu in March last year.

5. Zohra Sehgal

Bollywood’s sweetheart Zohra Sehgal had the youngest soul the world had ever seen. Full of zeal and enthusiasm, Zohra had acted in an array of critically and commercially successful movies. This grand old lady of Bollywood said her final goodbye in July 2014.

6. Sudha Shivpuri

Veteran TV and film actress and small screen’s favourite baa , Sudha Shivpuri breathed her last in May this year. Sudha had amassed an unprecedented fan base as baa from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi.

7. Sadashiv Amrapurkar

One of the most versatile actors in the industry, Amrapurkar was a powerhouse performer. Although he’d debuted in the critically accliamed Ardh Satya opposite Om Puri, he catapulted to fame as the scheming maharani in Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak. Sadashiv Amprapurkar left a permanent void in the industry when he breathed his last in November last year.

8. Suchitra Sen

One of the finest actresses of Indian cinema, Suchitra Sen was also the first Bengali actress to receive an international award in Moscow in 1963. However, she refused the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2005 to stay out of the public eye. Her portrayal in the film ‘Aandhi is remembered till date. Alas, she left us in January last year due to heart failure.

9. Ashraf-Ul-Haq

A pass out of the National School of Drama, Ashraf-Ul-Haq acted in more than 30 Hindi films such as Paan Singh Tomar. He was last seen in Ketan Mehta’s Manjhi. Suffering from a rare disorder, Ashraf passed away in February this year.

10. Abir Goswami

Having starred in hit TV shows such as Kkusum and Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Abir had a bright future in the entertainment industry. However, everybody was shocked when Abir died an untimely death due to a cardiac arrest in 2013. The cardiac arrest happened when he was running on the treadmill. Moreover, he’d also been undergoing treatment for Lymphoma.
