These Photos Show How Ladies Were Expected To Sit & Stand In The 1920s. Ridiculous!

According to Glamour Daze, in the 20s renowned actress Julia Faye published a Guide to Good Posture For Flappers and it is blowing our minds. The ‘flapper’, with her short skirts, bobbed hair and penchant for jazz music may have been new to the world, but believe me, the world’s desire to control her (or any woman, for that matter) certainly wasn’t.

If you are a lady that has an inclination to flout conventional standards of behaviour, prepare to be educated. *takes copious notes*

1. Don’t stand like you’re hiding a boner.

2. If you’ve got kamar mein dard, slap on some Moov and forever hold your peace.

3. Chillin’ like a villian is a big no-no for ladies when sitting down and reading what is obviously a cook-book.

4. A proper lady and Don Draper are NOT one and the same, so please don’t sit as if they are.

5. Since sitting is basically most of what women do, here’s yet ANOTHER way not to sit.

So, in case any of you aspiring angels of decency out there had questions about how to stand or sit, in particular, we hope that with Ms. Faye’s help we’ve dispelled your doubts.

What are you still doing here, ladies?! Go practice your newly acquired skills of propriety with the nearest chair! Toodle-oo.
