Decoding how our body works is still a work in progress.

However, this TED Talk unravels one of them – why is it that some people find it difficult to ‘poop’ when they are not in their home?

According to doctor, and author, Giulia Enders, just like everything else in the human body, it is the brain that decides where to poop!

The human body has an inner sphincter as well, where undigested food first gets deposited before being pushed to the outer sphincter for release.

However, when pushed to the outer sphincter, it is the brain that analyzes the surroundings and gives the body the indication of whether it can ‘take a dump’ or not, so to say.

Thus, if you are not comfortable in a public space, chances are the brain will not allow the body to go ahead with the excretion.
