Over the years, we’ve grown up watching – and rewatching – Bollywood’s classic romantic comedies and dramas. And realized that the movies which made up our childhood, teenage, and to some extent, even adult romantic fantasies, need to be revamped a little.
Because now’s the time when we finally deserve wholesome movies that we can enjoy, in a non-cringe way, and without ‘adjusting’ our standards. So here are some famous rom-com plotlines, absolved of their inherent toxicity:
1. Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein: But aesi harkatein land karti hai jail mein
2. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Kyunki Rahul har baar fuckboi nikalta hai!
3. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: But adulting is not an easy kahani!
4. Aashiqui: Should not be induced under the effects of intoxicants!
5. Mohabbatein: Schools need sex-education, not love-multiplication.
6. Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Tab tak logic follow karenge.
7. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: Was a brilliant song, and that’s about it!
8. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam: And everyone suffered because of Nandini’s indecision.
9. Kal Ho Naa Ho: Rahul aur Naina ko dost hi rehne do.
10. Badrinath Ki Dulhania: Kidnapping never says ‘romantic saiyyan’.
11. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Patriarchy peeche nahi chhod jayenge
12. Cocktail: Girls, don’t marry Gautam even if he’s the last surviving male.
13. Pardes: But the following should happen in ever des.
Dear Bollywood, since you’re so into remakes, maybe add these twists?
