Most of us know Tanuja Mukherjee as the mother of Kajol and Tannisha, but the veteran actress has her own impressive body of work that includes films like Haathi Mere Saathi, Jewel Thief, Anubhav and Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi. Her repertoire is not limited to Hindi cinema, she has also done considerable work in Gujarati, Marathi and Bengali films. By the influence of her artistically oriented family Tanuja was a strong woman to make a mark while she was involved with Bollywood, although she has continued to appear in films on a whim, her most recent was when she played a widow in the Marathi film Pitruroon, directed by Nitish Bharadwaj.
