TV Actor Ankita Lokhande To Make Her Bollywood Debut With Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika’

Actress Ankita Lokhande, known for her role opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in popular TV soap opera, Pavitra Rishta, is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated film Manikarnika.

The 32-year-old actress, who was on a long break after wrapping up the TV show, took to Instagram on Monday confirming her debut. 

According to a press statement released by the producers of Manikarnika, Ankita would be seen portraying the role of Jhalkari Bai, a close aide and advisor to the Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai, a role essayed by Kangana Ranaut in the film. 

Who is Jhalkari Bai ?

During the battle of Jhansi fort, Jhalkari Bai, because of her uncanny resemblance to Rani Laxmibai, disguised herself as the queen, and took command of the Jhansi army. Thus, saving the life of the real queen.

Besides the importance of Ankita’s character, what is also note worthy is that the film, which is being directed by Krrish, is penned down by Baahubali screen writer, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad.

And interestingly, Ankita took over the project under the guidance of film producer Kamal Jain, the man who was also behind the casting of actor Sushant Singh Rajput for M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi  is slated to release on April 27 next year and as far as the shooting schedule is concerned, it will begin in August. Meanwhile, the actress has already started her training in horse riding under the guidance of Hollywood Action director, Nick Powell.
