Huma Qureshi-Starrer ‘Partition: 1947’ Explores The Politics Behind The India-Pak Division

Saurav Bhanot

The 1947 Partition is definitely one of the most talked about and one of the most controversial moments in the history of both India and Pakistan.

As a nation split into two, millions of families were displaced and many more lost everything they had. Hatred from that partition still runs deep between the two countries and we’re yet to get over this landmark decision and rightfully so.

It’s also a topic that’s fascinated many filmmakers across the globe. And the latest in the list is Gurinder Chadha, best known for directing Bend It Like Beckham (2002).

Titled Partition: 1947, Chadha’s film takes a detailed look at all the politics that resulted in the division and promises to bring out untold facets of this monumental decision.

Featuring a mix of both Indian and international actors, the film stars Manish Dayal, late Om Puri and Huma Qureshi along with Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson & Michael Gambon.
