We’re not sure if we should be excited or confused about a piece of news from Movie Web – Tom and Jerry will be getting a live-action movie remake.
And in all honesty, the only live-action element in the movie will be someone’s knees and a broom. Geddit?
But let’s not bash the idea, as The Lion King remake made us realise to never judge a book by its cover. Even if the cover looks somewhat like this (fanmade).
Jokes aside, Fantastic Four director Tim Story will be on board to helm the project as the director.
According to Movie Web, the movie will go into production this summer. And, we already have a synopsis for the movie –
Jerry the mouse lives within the walls of a large, New England country home where he’s befriended the longtime owners, a loving elderly couple. Their unique, comedic friendship comes to an end after the elderly couple passes on and their house is put up for sale. When a young family moves in, Jerry’s determined to scare them away from taking over his home. The family quickly adopts a stray cat named Tom to help rid them of their pest problem. In an epic battle for the house, Tom & Jerry soon discover their growing adoration for the family and must work together to protect them from an outside threat. Through their teamwork, they both learn the ultimate value of family and friendship.
But, is the ‘sensibility’ in the iconic duo’s adventures really sensible since the opposite was their weapon of humour?
Anyhow, any form of news which reads Tom and Jerry will always pique our attention, no matter how bad of a treatment it gets. We’re ready to pay good bucks to watch it because #nostalgia.
