’The Jungle Book’ All Set To Join The 200 Crore Club After Completing 50 Days In Theatres

Haven’t found the time to go watch ‘The Jungle Book’? Don’t worry, because this incredible remake of the animated classic is not out of the theatres yet. 

Hollywood filmmaker Jon Favreau’s re-imagined world of The Jungle Book has resonated well with the Indian audiences. The film has inched towards the Rs 200-crore club in 50 days since its release in India on Friday, IANS reported.

The Hollywood movie, with the aww-inspiring Indian-American actor Neel Sethi playing Mowgli,  has collected over Rs 180 crore and is still going strong. The film was released in four languages in India – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu – which has improved its collections across regions. 

The movie tells the story of a boy Mowgli, who sets out on a journey of self-discovery guided by his animal guardians.

Amrita Pandey, vice president – studios, Disney India, is thrilled with the movie’s success. 

She told IANS:

“It has surpassed age, regions and even languages in a place as diverse as India and has been dearly loved and appreciated all across the country. We take immense pride in the way our little Mowgli has made India one of the top four internationally performing markets for the movie. It is truly a testament of the love of the audience for the movie and that a timeless tale, when told well, will always win over the audience.”

The Hollywood movie is based on Rudyard Kipling’s book and inspired by Walt Disney’s 1967 animated film. 

Bollywood stars Irrfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar, Shefali Shah and Om Puri have lent their voices for the Hindi version of the film.
