Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, known for his not-so-classy tweets, has landed himself into a controversy after hurling abuses at a female journalist on Twitter.
The singer launched an offensive after a woman journalist, among others, countered him on his views on the recent murder of an Infosys techie.
Bhattacharya, who has made insensitive and loose remarks in the past, sparked strong reactions when he wrote about the Chennai murder case giving it a communal colour. Shockingly, he claimed the incident was a case of ‘love jihad’ even as the police hasn’t said any such thing after arresting Swathi’s killer yesterday.
He tweeted stating he wants justice for a “Hindu” girl
He even called out to Hindu parents to start a trend for bringing justice to the victim
This sparked outrage among Twitter users, including the journalist in question, Swati Chaturvedi, who suggested the singer be arrested
Chaturvedi went on to taunt him over his singing career, which apparently riled up the singer
He then went on an offensive rant, bringing in Pakistan and making obscene personal attacks on the journalist
A supporter of Abhijeet butted in and in turn asked his opponents to tone down their language
Abhijeet quickly pounced on the opportunity and started mindless bashing
The journalist tagged Mumbai police in a tweet demanding action against the singer, and the latter responded
According to a PTI report, the offended journalist is all set to take stringent action against the singer. She said, “I am going to file an FIR and I hope that police will take the required action. I very strongly feel that enough is enough. We as journalists and women have been targeted enough on Twitter. I am tired of these sexual innuendos we all face.”
