HBO’s new miniseries Chernobyl has received universal praise for its depiction of what happened during the worst nuclear disaster of all time.
But the show has not gone down well with the Russian media. The Moscow Times has called the show a ‘caricature and not the truth’.
According to Joe, a Russian TV network, NTV is working on a series about their own version of the events of the Chernobyl disaster.
The Moscow Times says the show will be based on the premise that the CIA had sent an agent to Chernobyl to carry out an act of sabotage.
The series is to be directed by Alexei Muradov who was quoted saying,
One theory holds that Americans had infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant… And many historians do not deny that, on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy’s intelligence services was present at the station.
The last episode of HBO’s Chernobyl aired earlier this week. So if you haven’t watched it yet, give it a go.
