The trailer for Netflix’s Hindi original movie Rajma Chawal showcases a humorous family drama, that seems to be emotional, messy, and most importantly, relatable.
The movie stars Rishi Kapoor as a disgruntled father, trying to understand his son – who is constantly busy with his phone, friends, and music.
When the traditional way of talking fails, the father – aided by his friends – employ a modern way, and decide to ‘chat’ their way into the son’s life by making a fake profile on Facebook and befriending him.
Newcomer Anirudh Tanwar makes his debut with the movie as the son who is interested in love and music, but not in conversations with his father.
The movie also stars Amyra Dastur as Anirudh’s love interest, along with actors Sheeba Chaddha and Aparshakti Khurana.
Whether the son and father reconcile, or whether their alternate online personalities – full of white lies – cost them their relationship, forms the crux of the story.
The movie also hints at how the young son deals with heartbreak and how the father contemplates his own actions.
The brief trailer is filled with numerous dialogues that make the story feel relatable, especially because we’ve shared those same conversations and dialogues with our own parents.

The movie will release on Netflix on November 30.
