Farhan Akhtar has refused to bow down to the demands of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena ahead of the release his upcoming film Raees. As a result, his co-production is now receiving threats.
Just when the controversy surrounding films with Pakistani actors seemed to be dying down, Farhan’s recent statements seem to have stoked the MNS to life once again.
He described the MNS-Ae Dil Hai Mushkil deal as ‘terrible precedent‘.
And now MNS cine wing president Ameya Khopkar has responded by saying, “Release nazdik aane do phir dekh lenge (Let the film’s release come closer, we will look into it). By the way, where were these people when the decision of donating Rs 5 crores was taken? Suddenly everyone is waking up.” reported Mid Day.
Recently in conversation with Indian Express, he questioned why are we listening to a political party threatening with violence ? while there is no decision from the Government.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil managed to get a smooth release thanks mainly to the deal but will Raees now get targetted by the MNS?
Raees stars Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistani actor Mahira Khan and is co-produced by Excel Entertainment.
