There was however, one bit that really stood out.

Arya and Gendry finally acting on their feelings (and the former losing her virginity) was a scene that came out of nowhere!

The Wrap

That’s the scene that got everyone talking. Maisie Williams had a bit of insight into how the whole thing came about.

Recalling a conversation with David Benioff and Dan Weiss (who are known to mislead the actors by sending over fake scripts), Maisie told Entertainment Weekly –

At first, I thought it was a prank. I was like, ‘Yo, good one.’ And (the show-runners were) like, ‘No, we haven’t done that this year.

She also said that it added a new layer to Arya’s character.

This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with. David and Dan were like, ‘It’s the end of the world, what else would you have her do?’ This may be is a moment where Arya accepts death tomorrow.

However, the decision to choose the level of nudity, was given to Maisie herself to ensure that she’s comfortable with the scene.
