Don’t believe everything you read on the internet!

For the last two days, it’s been all over the world wide web that the real-life wolf that plays the character of the direwolf Ghost, Jon Snow’s furry friend, had died. But turns out that it isn’t true.

The rumour trended so much that even the writer of the series, G.R.R. Martin, fell for it and tweeted a picture.

But he was quick to post another tweet as soon as he reailzed his mistake.

As it turns out, the wolf that died was another one of the 10 dog-wolves that had been rescued at the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. Martin – a long-time supporter of the sanctuary – had named the wolves at the rescue centre after popular GoT characters. Along with Ghost, there are other dog-wolves at the centre called Arya, Jon Snow and Brienne.
