Exclusive: ‘MTV Unplugged’ Is Back With A New Season & Here’s Who Will Be Performing

After successfully completing five seasons, the MTV Unplugged is back with a new season. With 12 artists, Season 6 promises to take music to newer heights. 

Here’s an exclusive list of singers who will be seen taking the center stage with their 42 foot-tapping numbers in all 7 episodes across the season:

1) A R Rahman

India’s biggest composer is turning up again on the the sixth edition of MTV Unplugged in the premier episode. Hit songs from 90’s like Urvashi Urvashi (which might be the new reworded version) to current generation’s Enna Sonna from the latest movie OK Janu, the Mozart of Madras has it all lined up.

2) Amit Trivedi

Amit Trivedi, earlier seen in the fourth season of MTV Unplugged, is all set to make his second appearance in the musical show. 

Creating his magic all over again the 37-year old has a mix of peppy numbers like Queen’s London Thumakda and Ud-daa Punjab and some of the and soothing songs like Fitoor’s Pashmina

3) Shreya Ghoshal

The 32-year old singer is all sweep viewers of their feet. Shreya has picked some of her old romantic tracks like Leja Leja Re and Agar Tum Mil Jao along with the recent hits like Dewaani Mastani and Raha Hai Na Tu.

4) Benny Dayal and Neeti Mohan 

While Benny belonged to band S5, Delhi’s Neeti, was a member of the erstwhile Indian pop group Aasma. Both Benny and Neeti have given us many Bollywood hits together over the years and the duo will perform tracks like Sau Aasmaan, Tune Mari Entriyaan, Bang Bang on the MTV Unplugged stage. 

Neeti will also be seen singing love track Sapna Jahan from the film ‘Brothers’.

5) Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya

The duo used to assist Pritam in setting up musical arrangements before starting out as music directors. They will mesmerise viewers with beautiful tracks like Jeena Jeena, Sun Saathiya and Mileya Mileya.

6) Amit Mishra

A trained musician and a classical vocalist, Amit Mishra has mastered it. The singer who marked his singing debut with Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge will be seen performing Bulleya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil among others.

7) Badshah

The man needs no introduction. Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia aka Badshah will be setting the stage on fire with all his latest party tracks like Kala Chasma, Dj Wale Babu, Kar Gayi Chull. It will be pretty interesting to see how he performs them unplugged.

8) Shahid Mallya

The voice behind many Bollywood hits including Udta Punjab once used to sing at gurudwaras to make a living. Shahid Mallya with his magical voice is all set to heat with soulful tracks like Ikk Kudi.

9) Jubin Nautyal

The 27-year old will be seen performing the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for the show.

10) Divya Kumar

Coming from a musical family, Divya Kumar has been singing since the age of eight and even as a child he appeared in quite a few stage shows. Catch him performing Jee Karda from the film Badlapur.

11) Jasleen Royal

This 25-year old singer will be performing Preet from Khoobsurat, the song with which she entered Bollywood in 2014.

12) Siddharth Mahadevan

Music is in his genes. Following his father Shankar Mahadevan’s footsteps, this young singer has made his own identity in the industry. He will be seen singing last year’s wedding number Nach De Ne Saare from Baar Baar Dekho among other hits.

The Season 6  will air on MTV on January 14, 2016 at 8 PM.
