HBO’s Game of Thrones secured the coveted Emmy award for the Best Drama series on Sunday, September 23 at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, reports Fox News.
The series has been the titleholder since it grabbed 12 awards for Season 5 in 2015.
But this time, they tied their own previous number by getting a record-breaking 32 nominations and virtually sweeping the 2019 Emmys ceremony.
The show received 32 nominations, which included – Outstanding Drama Series nomination, as well as nominations for lead characters Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Alfie Allen and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The Season 8 of Game Of Thrones also received 3 nominations for Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Writing for a drama series, setting a new record for the maximum number of nominations in the Emmys.
