Cersei’s Big Reveal In The Latest Episode Has A Huge Connection To A Prophecy From Season 5

It was Cersei Lannister who once said, “When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die.”

And so far she’s been playing her cards right and has been winning consistently. Her grip on the Iron Throne has tightened in the past few seasons and it looks like she doesn’t plan on giving up her power as The Queen of the Seven Kingdoms just yet.

As you know, Cersei was wedded to Robert Baratheon after he killed Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar was the crown prince but he never became king, with Robert taking over. Cersei became his queen and a small part of the prophecy she had heard as a little girl came true.

This week’s episode had a huge plot twist as far as Jaime & Cersei’s stories are concerned. The queen is now bearing a child and the parents seemed visibly happy.

We have seen Cersei turn evil for her kids so it’s safe to assume that Cersei’s wrath will be inescapable if something was to happen to her unborn child.

But something makes us believe that this child will never see the light of day.

Back in the first episode of Season 5, we saw the flashback of when Cersei, who was then a little girl, visited Maggy in the woods at Casterly Rock.

The witch gave her three questions.

Cersei, who was then promised to Prince Rhaegar, asked when they would marry. And was told by Maggy, “You will never wed the prince. You will wed the king.”

That prophecy came true because she did get married to King Robert.

Cersei then asked if she would be queen. And Maggy told her, “You’ll be queen. For a time. Then comes another, younger, more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear.”

Cersei has been queen for quite some time and the threat of a younger, more beautiful queen was what made Cersei hate Sansa and later, kill Margaery Tyrell.

But the tide has now turned and this prophecy could very well be pointing to Daenerys Targaryen.

And then Cersei asked her third question, “Will the king and I have children?”.

To which Maggy said no. And added “The king will have 20 children and you will have three. Gold will be their crowns. Gold their shrouds.”

The King’s 20 children could be a hint towards Robert’s bastards. Cersei, on the other hand, had her three children, Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella, with Jaime. Maggy’s prophecy says “Gold will be their crowns” which could mean literal crowns or that they will have golden hair. Joffrey and Tommen both wore the crown but Myrcella never became a queen. The witch further says, “Gold their shrouds” which could mean that they would have a royal burial.

In her prophecy, there is no mention of a fourth child. And considering how the show has been referencing to its previous episodes, there is a huge possibility that the unborn child of Jaime & Cersei is certainly bad news for them.
