In one of their conditions, the Central Board of Film Certification on Saturday asked the filmmakers to remove ‘I’ from the title Padmavati in order to get clearance.
This decision might come as a surprise but it definitely holds some significance.
Padmavat is an epic poem written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. It chronicles a fictional story about the Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khalji’s desire for the titular Padmavati, the Queen of Chittor.
And well, removing an ‘I’ from Padmavati now makes it a fictional film.
And obviously, Twitter played ‘i’ to ‘i’.
