Who Says Three Is A Crowd? Here Are 10 Of The Greatest Trios Of All Time

Akshay Nayar

Laurel and Hardy. Batman and Robin. Bread and Butter. Raja aur Rancho.

Good things come in pairs, I admit. But better things come in threes. Whoever said three is a crowd has never been in a threesome. And to prove just how awesome threesomes are, here are 10 of the best trios of all time:

1. Sachin, Dravid & Ganguly

The Master Blaster, the Bengal Tiger and The Wall. If it weren’t for these three, Indian cricket would never be as successful as it is today.

2. Aakash, Sid and Sameer from DCH

Fun, dance, heartbreak, loss, conflict and Goa… while all this was happening to Aakash, Sid and Sameer, we got attached to them to such a degree that even today, Dil Chahta Hai stands as a benchmark for real friendship.

3. Fries, Salt and Ketchup

First came potatoes and then came fries. And honestly, no one cares about the first part. However, fries without salt and sauce is like going to a cricket match with stumps but no bat or ball. Basically, they are perfect as a trio and there is no way one would work without the other. Taking a cue from the joker: they complete each other.

4. Harry, Ron and Hermione

Who can forget the most famous wizard trio of all time? They didn’t start out smooth (Wingardium Leviosa, anyone?). But, by the end of the first book/film, the three were like family. They sacrificed so much for each other, I’m sure us muggles would think thrice before doing some of the stuff these three pulled off. 100 points to Gryffindor!

5. Simba, Timon and Pumba

No list of trios can be complete without these guys. Timon and Pumba were a great tag team but they became a loveable trio with the addition of Simba. The two of them helped Simba forget his angst-ridden past by sharing their Hakuna Matata philosophy.

6. Messi, Suarez and Neymar

The best of South America in one rampaging attacking unit. Never has a football team seen such artillery upfront. All three are the best at what they do, but they never let their ego get in the way as they run rings around opposition defenders. Watching them run riot is a privilege.

7. Paper, Roach and Mix

Individually they are just material but together one can scale the highest mountains, if you know what I mean. A match made high above, in heaven.

8. The Hangover Boys

Phil, Stu and Alan. These three made holidays gone wrong look so good. Three misfits in awkward situations eventually coming out on top. The Wolfpack (minus one, because well… he’s always missing), as Alan calls it, makes one helluva trio. You don’t want to be stuck holidaying with them, but watching them ain’t so bad.

9. Amar, Akbar and Anthony

These three were introduced to us in 1977. Three brothers, separated by birth, each raised in homes with different religious beliefs. At the end of the film, they learn their common lineage and together take on the bad guy. This trio played a big part in propounding the idea that there should always be brotherhood between different religions.

10. The Baked Trio

Since history has always made way for newer trios, it’s time for Oni, Harris and Body to come back.
