We all know Shashi Tharoor as the orator extraordinaire who has often won arguments and political discourse with his vocabulary and liberal political ideology.
But his recent video shows him in a different light — a devout Hindu.
Recently at the Hay Festival, Tharoor delivered a speech defending himself as a practising Hindu. And he profoundly rolls out pearls of wisdom that characterise the essence of what it means to belong to the religion.
With excerpts from his latest book, Why I Am A Hindu, Tharoor reminds us of the pluralism that defined the religion’s core. Hinduism is not synonymous with ‘Hindutva’ and Tharoor perfectly explains it in this video.
Watch this and consider it as a reminder that pluralism is the way forward. And intolerance needs to run its course and die a natural death.
