Two days of continuous torrential rains have brought Chennai to a standstill, with floods forcing government to shut down the city airport and railway stations. Thousands of civilians continue to remain trapped awaiting help, food and medical care.
And to aid them, netizens from the state and various parts of the country have taken to social media. On Twitter, hashtags like #ChennaiRainsHelp, #Chennaifloods and Chennairains helpline have been created to aid rescue efforts and provide food and medicine to marooned people.
Here’s how Social Media is helping different groups to help the flood victims.
