There is always a sort of nostalgia surrounding playgrounds. The time we spend there as kids, swinging, sliding and climbing becomes a part of those sweet childhood memories we all hold dear to our hearts. Perhaps, that’s what people at Fuji Kindergarten kept in mind while constructing this epic playground.

Fuji Kindergarten, a kindergarten located in Tachikawa, Japan, has built a fascinating playground for it’s students. The playground is built as a ring around a Zelkova tree.

What is even more fascinating is that this Zelkova tree has an interesting story behind it. The tree, which is now over 50 years old, was uprooted by a typhoon and became completely lifeless and grey.

But to everyone’s surprise, the tree recovered all by itself, once again. Now the playground rests under the shades of the lush green leaves.

Even before the kindergarten was built in 2007, the fascinating tree was a popular hangout for little kids.

Now the surrounding building’s windows face inwards at the tree and the kids play on the platforms and around the tree during recess or while waiting for their school bus.

The little kids can explore parts of the tree that us adults cannot fit into, making it an ideal hang out for them!

And it’s a sprawling beauty by night!

Growing up in the lap of nature. Amazing, isn’t it?
