When you are good at something, you make that your everything. Some people choose to follow their dreams from the beginning but some switch to them later on. Nothing is ever enough in this world and hence you always need an alternative to your career. Just like Yuvraj said in an advertisement “Jab tak balla chal raha hai, thaat hai. Jab balla nahin chalega to…”. Hardly anyone knows that several athletes have held other unexpected jobs as well. Here are a few of them. 

1. MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the current captain of the Indian cricket team. Apart from this, the Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni in 2011 and he is the vice president of The India Cements Ltd. 

2. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer. In 2012, Tendulkar accepted the Rajya Sabha nomination and became the first active sportsperson and cricketer to have been nominated. 

3. Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh is a former Indian track and field sprinter. He was promoted from the rank of sepoy to junior commissioned officer for his successful performance in the 1958 Asian Games.

4. Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel is an Indian cricketer, wicket-keeper batsmen. In 2004, he was inducted as an executive (sports and culture) in Reliance Ltd. 

5. Abhinav Bindra

Abhinav Singh Bindra is an Indian shooter and is a World and Olympic champion. He is the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics and in 2011, he was honored with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Territorial Army. 

6. Joginder Sharma

Joginder Sharma is an Indian cricketer who is best known for bowling the last over in the 2007 T20 World Cup final. His winning moment earned him a job with Haryana Police and now he is the Deputy Superintendent of Police. 

7. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh Plaha is an Indian cricketer who got awarded with the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Government of Punjab in 2001. 

8. Chitrashi Rawat

Chitrashi Rawat, apart from being a part of the Uttarakhand hockey team, is a film actress. Her film career began in 2007, when she starred as Komal Chautala in the movie Chak De India.

9. Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid is a former Indian cricketer and captain. He is also the vice president of The India Cements Ltd. 

10. Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin is an Indian international cricketer. He is the fastest Indian bowler to reach the 150 wicket mark in Test cricket. Apart from this, he is the senior manager at The India Cements Ltd.  

11. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is an Indian wicket-keeper batsmen who made his debut in 2004. He is also the manager at The India Cements Ltd. 

12. Mary Kom

Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom, known simply as Mary Kom is a boxer from Manipur, India. She got promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Government of Manipur in 2012.
